The Harvest Hawke’s Bay Wine and Food Festival 2009 will be the largest in its 14 year history with thirty-six local producers taking part.
The annual celebration of Hawke’s Bay’s renowned wine, food and hospitality takes place over two days at Waitangi weekend, February 7th and 8th. It is the largest wine festival of in the North Island and the largest of its kind in New Zealand, with ticket holders visiting the wineries on EIT Shuttle buses on Saturday and taking in a full programme of events throughout the weekend.
Lyn Bevin of Hawke’s Bay Winegrowers says the increased number of wineries will give festival goers the chance to sample wines from a wider variety of producers including some new labels on the market.
“ We have a number of new wineries in the Bay and its exciting to see the exponential growth in the industry here, which can only be good news for fine wine lovers. We also have a fantastic array of complementary food and beverage producers involved and a magnificent line up of entertainment for Harvest Hawke’s Bay 2009, making it a huge wine weekend not to be missed.”
Producers involved in Harvest 2009 include Alpha Domus, Abbey Cellars, Askerne, Black Barn, Ash Ridge, Beach House, Brookfields, Church Road, Clearview, Crossroads, CJ Pask, Elephant Hill, Kemblefield, Kim Crawford, Lime Rock, Matariki, Maimai Creek, Mission, Moana Park, Ngatarawa, Park Estate, Sacred Hill, Salvare, Sileni, Silky Oak Chocolate Factory, Telegraph Hill, Tukipo River, The Filter Room, Triangle Red, Trinity Hill, Unison, Vidal, Wishart, Zepelin.

Ms Bevin urged people to avoid disappointment and book their Harvest Hawke’s Bay tickets as soon as possible.
“People wanting to attend the Harvest Hawke’s Bay concerts and special events also need to have their Harvest Hawke’s Bay Pass. The weekend is all about having that Harvest Pass and without it there is no entry to the wineries. Once you have your Harvest Pass you have admission to every winery taking part. Seats on the buses are limited and its really worth booking early.”
Both Harvest Pass and bus tickets can be purchased through 0800 4 HB WINE, at all participating wineries and through the Hawke’s Bay Visitor Information Centres in Napier, Hastings, Havelock North and CHB.
