Great start for Hot Red Hawke’s Bay road show

The first event in the Hot Red Hawke’s Bay road show held in Christchurch last night (Tuesday 7 July) saw more than double the number of wine consumers on last year attending, proving to organisers the merit in moving to a larger venue, the Christchurch Town Hall.

Hawke’s Bay Winegrowers Inc Executive Officer, Lyn Bevin said that the response from wine lovers was extremely positive, with the event, held for the fourth year in the city, gaining greater recognition - even three Australian business men who arrived in Christchurch yesterday, had incorporated the event into their visit, and dubbed it a “bonza” experience.

“We are starting to see the same names and faces coming back each year, bringing their friends and colleagues with them.  It was really pleasing to hear restaurateurs discussing how certain wines would complement a particular dish; that’s exactly the purpose of the event,” Ms Bevin reported.

The annual event is staged by the regional wine organisation to provide metropolitan-based New Zealand wine media, trade and discerning wine enthusiasts an opportunity to taste a wide variety of the red wines produced by Hawke’s Bay wineries.

Today (Wednesday 8) a sell-out crowd is expected at The Duxton Hotel in Wellington.

The Auckland expo is tomorrow (Thursday 8) at The Heritage Hotel where 25 winemakers will be adding hundreds of fine red wines to the art deco atmosphere to create a Hawke’s Bay ‘home away from home’ experience in the final show.  There will be limited door sales available at $40 per head (no EFTPos available).
