Hot Red Hawke's Bay

Hot Red Hawke’s Bay is the must-do event of the year for wine lovers, when the cellar doors of the region’s finest wineries come to you.

The cellar doors of more than 30 of the region’s finest wineries come together for this popular event in Auckland and Wellington, with more than 270 wines to sample - including the legendary 2013 and 2014 vintages that will be talked about for years to come.  Meet the passionate wine makers behind the region’s diverse wines and pre-order shipments of your favourite tipple.

For the first time in the 12-year history, Hot Red Hawke’s Bay is offering exclusive Wine Master Classes led by four Hawke’s Bay experts. Winemakers Hugh Crichton from Vidal Estate and Tony Bish from Sacred Hill Winery will host the Wellington Wine Master Class. Tim Turvey the co-owner and winemaker from Clearview Estate Winery and John Hancock, the founder and owner of Trinity Hill, will run the Auckland Master Class.

Young Viticulture of the year 2015

The prestigious New Zealand’s Young Viticulturist of the Year Competition is held to find a national viticulture representative to compete in the Young Horticulturist of the Year competition and to celebrate the young talent in our region.  The 2015 competition will be held on Thursday, 2nd July at Te Awa Estate. 

Winners of the regional event will go on to compete at the national final at the Bragato conference - 26th - 28th August.

Competitors will vie for the coveted title of Young Viticulturist of the Year annually earning the right to compete at the Young Horticulturist of the year competition.

The industry recognises that grapevine pruning is an integral management practice required for quality wines. The competition has been developed to encourage a high standard and to recognise the skills of pruners. Competition will be held on THURSDAY 2ND JULY 2015, TE AWA ESTATE VINEYARD, HASTINGS.

2015 New Zealand Young Winemaker Competition

The Young Viticulturistof the year competition has long been the benchmark for celebrating New Zealand’s up-and coming viticultural talent. Now entering its 10th year, the viticulture competition is to be joined in 2015 by a winemaking specific event, aimed at helping showcase the wealth of developing winemaking talent in the industry. 

Hawkes Bay entries open on February 1st the selected regional entrants will undergo a day of rigorous testing, which may include challenges involving; lab analysis, blending, blind tasting, amongst other assessments.

The competition will be held on Friday, 31st July over one day in Hawke’s Bay at EIT (Eastern Institute of Technology), and conclude in the evening at the Hawke’s Bay Young Winemaker Awards Dinner on the evening of the competition. Information for the dinner will be provided at a later date. Competitors will receive a complimentary ticket to the dinner and we encourage companies to purchase tickets to support their Young Winemaker entrants.

Hawke's Bay Wine Auction

2015 Hawkes Bay Wine Auction event, will be held on Saturday 14th November.  The Hawkes Bay Wine Auction is the oldest wine auction in New Zealand and was established in 1991.  

The Auction has 40 wine auction Lot positions and each participating winery offers a special unique Lot, that has in most cases, been blended especially for this event.  They are one off offerings that will never be repeated again.  The event presents an opportunity for wine lovers and enthusiasts to pre- sample each auction lot offering, with the winemaker, two hours before the actual auction commences.  The event venue capacity is 400 people. Tickets are sold prior to the event for $20 as a starting point with two other prices points including food and a glass.

Hawke's Bay Wine Celebration

Hawke’s Bay Wine Celebration 2015 is an exciting event we are planning to capitalise on the influx of trade and media coming through to attend the Central Otago Pinot Noir Celebration 2015.  Our Hawke’s Bay Wine Celebration is scheduled for Monday, 26th January 2015 to capture the international and national Wine trade and media’s attention prior to the Central Otago event on 29th January.

This event will showcase Hawke’s Bay wine with the objective of educating, informing and building relationships in a memorable and entertaining experience.  This one day programme will include - formal Syrah & Blends tastings & discussions, a seafood & chardonnay lunch, grand tasting and a finale dinner.
